I hope Laila has a wonderful birthday party today! She will be having a Dora and farm animals theme :), I hope she likes them 🙂
I am thankful to have met wonderful people through my cookies. Angel Cruz is one of them. He had contacted me to make mini lady bug cookies, and we have become friends since then. He always shares my pictures and provides great marketing advertising lines for me :). He is a wonderful person, a very hard entrepreneur, a great Father, and a great party decorator. Thank you Angel for your great support, I wish you also the best, please make sure you share pictures from Laila’s party decorations :).
The last time I was in a farm was a very long time ago, when I was 11. In Peru, my uncle Tito owned a farm, chacra in spanish…We had great times there, a bit scary at night since the electricity would shut off when the sun went down. There was a small river near by, which my cousins would tell us the story of the little baby that fell in and drowned…at night you could hear a baby cry…..s c a r y ….I remember riding a donkey, well attempting to ride a donkey, until my cousin Victor came and spanked the donkey and it almost knocked me over lol lol…I remember being scared to go to the bathroom at night, since there was no light, and the bathroom only consisted of a little shed with a hole on the floor lol, we would all go together and scare each other in there lol. Memories 🙂
My aunt Carmen is one of the best cooks I know, everything was so fresh and well seasoned…I miss her food :). She used to cook in huge pots, right outside. They loved making Cuy, which they are guinea pigs..yes unfortunately in Peru the guinea pig is quite tasty..I’m not a huge fan of it, since I would consider them pets, but I have tried it before and if cooked correctly it can be quite tasty.
I think one of my scariest memories was there. One day that we slept over, I woke up in the middle of the night, and saw two shadows on the wall…they went wall to wall. Two men, one carrying a shovel, and the other one a bucket. I stayed quiet and as soon as they passed by my wall I ran to my sister and started crying. I will never forget this, never…we didn’t go back as much after that lol. It still scares me lol. Strange things happen in farms lol. I tend to experience weird things, which once Halloween comes around I will blog about it.
I remember picking the asparagus and sugar canes…I remember the sweet taste of the pomegranates, my favorite fruit :). My cousins were often criticized for their lack of reading and writing, but we didn’t care, we would teach them words in English, the bad words of course lol. They knew a lot about farming, they loved it there. They would teach us how to climb the trees and get the fruit down…. I miss my Peru a lot. I will retire there when my kids start living their own lives, when they don’t need me as much, and I know they will be ok 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend everyone, I will be prepping for my show next sunday 🙂 It is a pretty big show, can’t wait 🙂
Lot’s of love to everyone!!
